After 77 dead from Gustav, Hurricane Hanna hit Haiti today. Sadly in Gonayiv and Sen Mak. When I was in Gonayiv last summer, they still hadn't recovered from Hurricane Jean in 2004.

And it looks like Ike and Josephine aren't far behind.

The New Number Two

I finally had a bit of time to read August's issue of New Internationalist, which is about toilets and sanitation. It is chock-full of interesting stuff.

I find myself reflecting on the large number of people I've met in Haiti who've been involved in one water program or another. I don't think I've met anyone who was working on toilets.
