International Blog Against Racism Week

I just noticed a post pointing out that it's International Blog Against Racism week. And I suddenly remembered writing this post about this time last year.

I never did get a good chance to blog about International Blog Against Racism week. Pretty much the whole week, I was on the road, and far from any internet connectivity.

And it occurred to me: Tuesday the 12th will be the one-year anniversary.

Thought for a Topic

Note to self: consider suggesting a WisCon panel on the role of women in the tech industry in general, and Open Source software in particular. I think that Emma Jane Hogbin's presentation is a good starting point, but there are a lot of good analses of the problem.

I particularly liked finding the link to the Five Geek Social Fallacies.

Two interesting data points to look up:

1. What percentage of speakers at JavaOne were women?
2. This week, Agile 2008 is taking place in Toronto. Is the percentage any different there?

Six Feet Under

So I just started watching Six Feet Under recently. I hadn't seen it before. It's kinda funny recognizing all these actors from other works. Look! Dexter, and the wife from Ira and Abbey and the cop from The Lost Room and the college student from Starting Out in the Evening!

I'd heard that it was well-written, and I've been quite impressed with the writing so far. I'm part-way in to the second season. In an episode I watched tonight, ( Second Season Spoiler? )
