Not Just Morbid, but Funny, Too

Mason: Bacchus?
Rube: He's the Greek god of "why don't you read a fucking book?"
I recently picked up the DVD sets for Dead Like Me. I was totally thrilled by the show. The writing is darkly funny, but also has extended conversations about grieving, depression, dead-end jobs, and living life fully. I don't know if any of the Canadian stations ran it first-run, but Showcase is picking it up (starting tomorrow night).
I love the characterization of the main reaper Georgia "George" Lass, and Mandy Patinkin is great as her "head reaper", Rube. I remember hearing about the series when it first started and pegged it as similar to Tru Calling -- I couldn't have been more wrong on that. Tru always went out to prevent people from dying. George, on the other hand, learns that people die and there isn't much you can do about it.
And it's funny. Ellen Muth is a funny actor (so few women in Hollywood get to be really funny, unless they're playing the bimbo).
