Colby Cosh mentions this interesting point, practically overlooked in the Supreme Court coverage today:

Perhaps I shouldn't call attention to this, but the two justices with Alberta ties, McLachlin and Major, combined with Bastarache and Deschamps to win a showdown on a temporarily shorthanded seven-man bench.
