More Cartooning Homework

Just to give you an idea about how odd our assignments are, this one had to be:

  • a four-panel comic
  • about the theme of guilt
  • with one piece of narration, at least one thought balloon and at least two pieces of dialog
  • and must contain a prop (with angles and edges), which must appear in all four panels from at least three different angles.

I handed in this assignment about a month ago, and only got it back tonight. I actually got an A on it, although looking at it now, I think the word balloons are really sloppy and the lettering is uneven.

I like panel three, which I think is visually funny, and I was really happy with the way the wood texture worked out in panel one. Learning how and when to give things the right amount of shading has been a really hard thing, and it's coming pretty slowly for me.

Uneven lettering kind of fits with the Grrl's mood and attitude, in a way, and kind of brings out the surreality a little more. It works with the whole well enough to look intentional.

Besides panel three being visually funny and the wood texture being excellent, it's hilarious!

you know, yeah, the bubbles in P2 are a bit uneven, and the lettering a bit thin-n-thick, but overall i really like this comic! the wood texture rocks, the change of angle works, P3 is visually funny to me too, i like the juxtaposition between the short, chunky executioner and the grrl, and the punch line is funny! it looks to me like you've made a lot of progress since you started doing this.
