Life imitates Blogs

I've been following the TSA/backscatter thingie/aggressive physical search thing that's going around on the Interwebs. Mostly, I've been reading it with the mixed headspace of thinking that it's wrong, but not being overly concerned because I discounted it as a mostly American thing.

Yeah, I knew that we have these "I see naked people" scanners in Canadian airports, but I mostly imagined that they would be used on flights to the U.S. I figured I'd probably hafta worry about them for my next trip to Haiti.

Yesterday, after I walked through the metal detector at the airport -- flying Vancouver to Toronto -- the guy behind me was "randomly selected for additional screening" and asked to step in to the Naked Scanner. Until that moment, I hadn't really registered that the Naked Scanner was sitting there. And yet, there it was.
