Like a Picasso or a Garfunkle

On Sunday, [livejournal.com profile] the_siobhan, [livejournal.com profile] the_axel and I went up to Kleinburg, to see the McMichael gallery.

Aside:
Me: Kleinburg? Never heard of it.
Siobhan: You've never been to Kleinburg? It's a popular destination for school trips.
Me: I grew up in Sarnia. For us, school trips involve chemical plants.

Anyway, they had this amazing exhibition by an artist named Daphne Odjig. I must confess that I hadn't heard of her before, but I found her pieces beautiful.

I remember that the big field trip my senior year was the nuke plant. Fun stuff!

The work of Daphe Odjig looks interesting. I might need to make a trip up to Kleinburg. It's been a while.

I'd love to go if it's the gallery I think it is.

It's the McMichael Canadian Art Collection (http://www.mcmichael.com/). I've been a few times - I really love it up there.

Is that the gallery with all the famous Canadian painters? I've always wanted to go there, but there is not good public transportation to there. Did you guys have to drive?

I have too been to Kleinburg, but only for the gallery. A strange location for a gallery of such, but nevertheless.

Do you like the Group of Seven? I don't.

No, I can't say I'm a Group of Seven fan. There's something about miles and miles of permafrost wastelands that bores me to tears.
