OMGWTFBBQ!
BBQ with a bunch of computer geeks:
Imagine this set up. Table followed by bbq. At the end of the table there are plates followed by condiments and salads and finally bbq. On the shelf of the bbq there are hamburger and hot dog buns. The bbq is cooking up hamburgers (incl. veggie burgers), hot dogs and souvlaki.
Being Canadian, of course we line up. I find that I pick up the plate. Get to the bbq. Get a bun and burger, and then hafta loop back and butt in to the middle of the line to get my condiments.
Being computer geeks, though, we all see that proper queue theory has not been correctly implemented and the line-up for the bbq is in danger of introducing race conditions. And, of course, we all start talking about it.
Later, when I'm doing my best at mingling, I start conversations with, "notice the whole thing with the plates and the line up?"
Others: "Yeah, we were just talking about it. We were saying that it was driving us nuts that it was so badly laid out."
Ah, nerds. They're my peeps.
