WisCon Panel Idea: Being Read by Transfolk

Here's an idea: four or five self-identified transfolk get together on a panel. They've all read the same half-dozen books with some rilly good gender content (they'll chat well beforehand, and agree on some titles). And they analyze the content for what it says and doesn't say about gender, binary gender, and/or transness. Obviously, one of the books on the list would be that year's Tiptree winner.

Would you be on such a thing? [livejournal.com profile] charliegrrrl? [livejournal.com profile] jiawen? Maybe we could get Aaron (doesn't he have a livejournal?) or [livejournal.com profile] nadyalec (whom I saw only once, I fear).

I'm actually serious about trying to plan for it, now. I think I'm starting to believe that the best panels at WisCon are composed of people who've talked enough to know what each other is going to say.

[livejournal.com profile] madcapricorn, i do believe.

I've heard enough really cool things about Wiscon that I'm tempted to try to go next year... but would you actually be open to having a first-timer on the panel?

I think it'd be interesting, and I'd be willing to volunteer to be on it.

that would be a great panel. I would love to be an audience member.

Now *that*, I think, would be a good panel.

I'd be up for it, but I'm a slow reader. Finishing enough books in a year would be unlikely for me.

Ditto, above

I agree with futabachan: I've needed a reason to go to Wiscon, and could help out if needed. Or just come to the con.

bc,
I would like to do this as an online community. Not sure I could commit to WisCon. Been following the discussion and having some of my own with local folks. Appreciative of your enthusiasm. Anyway, I'll lend a hand --and a mind-- to this concept and do what I can to support its fruition.

I'm not sure. I might not want to be on any "trans panels" next year at Wiscon. It was fun this year, but I'm just not sure I'll be up for it again next year. Ask me again in nine months, and we'll see how I'm feeling then. ;->)
