Soundtracks

More than anywhere else, I encounter songs that I really enjoy in soundtracks. The movie Better than Chocolate was my first encounter with Ani Difranco (who I now consider to be the world's greatest singer/songwriter ever). The soundtracks for Solaris and The Hours are two of my favourite CDs.

Over the weekend, I bought my first song from iTunes -- a piece by Métisse called "Nomah's Land", which was used in Dead Like Me (Métisse has another piece called "Boom boom ba" which was also used, a few times, in Dead Like Me).

In the finale to Life on Mars, there's a hauntingly beautiful cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", I think by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole. Just one voice and a ukulele.

"The soundtracks for Solaris..."

Is that the original Soviet version or the US re-make?

I'm not BC, but I'm going to guess the re-make, since the re-make has a wonderful soundtrack and I can't recall the soundtrack for the original at all despite having watched it very recently.
